Q Youth parents, caregivers and families: The attached letter below will be sent home with Q Youth tonight. We are posting the full text here so that everyone can be informed. May 18, 2018 To our Q Center parents, caregivers, and family, It has come to QYR leadership’s attention that a youth attended drop-in last week while under the influence of THC edibles. This behavior violates our strict policy of all Q Youth Resources/Q Center events and spaces being free of alcohol, drug, and tobacco use. Due to this and previous incidents, our policies dictate that this youth will no longer be allowed to attend any QYR/Q Center events, including Friday night drop-in and our upcoming Pink Prom. This youth and their parents have been informed of this action. We would like to take this opportunity to re-iterate our strict no-substance use policy, as well as the code of conduct we have in place to ensure that QYR/Q Center events and spaces are safe and welcoming for all youth. Be substance free. • Refrain from using or being under influence of tobacco, drugs, and/or alcohol. 2. Respect others. • Maintain appropriate boundaries with peers and adults. At no time is sexual and/or romantic talk or touch appropriate between a youth and adult. Sexual touching, harassment, or abuse is not permitted. Social contact outside of Q Center activities between youth and adult is not appropriate. Respect the authority of Q Center volunteers, staff, youth leaders, and speakers. Respect the personal space and boundaries of others. 3. Respect our space. • Help keep our space clean and orderly. Respect the property in our space by asking permission to use and avoiding damages. 4. Keep the peace. • Free the Q Center of degrading racial, ethnic, sexist, trans/bi/homophobic talk and violence of any kind. Respect everyone’s right to self-determination. Constructively resolve conflict, avoid gossip. 5. Follow procedures. • Complete and turn in an accurate intake form. • Sign in and out when entering and leaving the Q Center and parking lot area. • Once signed in, remain in the Q Center and parking lot area until signed out.
